Rifle Short Range Engagements
The Semi-Auto Rifle Short Range Engagement is a three-hour course designed as an entry-level Core Safety skills builder class.
The course will reinforce the students’ knowledge of safe range operations, firearms safety While handling, loading, unloading, and clearing of a semi-automatic rifle, proper shooting stance, sight alignment, breathing and trigger squeeze, all while increasing confidence. Students will increase their ability to strike the target in a designated area while in a stationary position.
This course is designed for Iron Sights, and all Optics will need to be removed prior to arrival.
In an indoor, low-stress environment, without optics; students upon completion of the course are expected to be able to engage targets in short-range from 9-15 feet while in a stationary position. By the end of this course students will be able to hit a target consistently within a 10-centimeter circle (4 Inch Bull).
Students will be given a written test upon completion of the classroom instruction and are required to achieve a passing score of 80 percent in order to move to the firing line and engage targets.

Scott Van Valkenburg
Scott is a 23-year veteran of the United States Army and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. Scott joins us after completing his last assignment in Belgium, where he hand-selected to serve as the Director of Security Operations (Personal and Physical security) to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (Four Star General).
He has instructed Soldiers, Airmen, and Marines in the following areas; Close Quarters Combat, Reflexive Fire, Precision Marksmanship, Transition Fire, Defensive Patrol and Engagement, Offensive Patrol Operations, Marksmanship Basic to Advanced with Pistol, Rifle and Sub Machine Gun, Unarmed Self Defense, Use of Force, Shotgun Breaching and Assault, DOD Antiterrorism officer level 2, Operational Security Officer level 2, and Active Shooter Response Instructor.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Post University, Waterbury, Connecticut and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Due to ammunition shortage all over the current market, we encourage you to bring your own ammunition to class to ensure participation in class.
By registering for this class, you are acknowledging that you are at least 18 years old and not legally prohibited from operating, possessing, transferring, or owning a firearm in the State of Georgia, as regulated by federal, state, and local laws. False notification or misrepresentation to legally possess firearms in the State of Georgia will result in student’s immediate removal from class and forfeiture of all course fees. By registering for this class, you are also hereby expressly assuming the risk of taking part in the course for instruction in firearms, and taking part in the activities, which include, but are not limited to, instruction in the use of firearms, the discharge of firearms, and the firing of live ammunition.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
All sales are final and no refunds are offered for any cancellations or missed classes.
