Empowering Women II is a six-hour course designed as the next step for women to expand their knowledge base in this 4 part series.  This course will begin with a classroom & range review of safety and marksmanship fundamentals.  The class will then move into more advanced knowledge & skills (see below).  The class will end with additional range time, as the students move into advanced skills.


Required Note of Warning:

 Governors Gun Club reserves the right to remove any student from the course for safety concerns or frequent safety infractions. No money will be refunded, and the individual will be refused further training instruction until the successful completion of Handgun Fundamentals and Safety Courses. If the written or performance test are not passed (where applicable), a later date will be scheduled for remedial training so the student can have a chance to continue to progress.


Course Schedule

This is a 6-hour class.  There will be approximately 4 hours of classroom instruction combined with 2 separate range times.  Class will be a review of the fundamentals prior to moving on to new information.  Lunch will be provided.

Additional Information

 This class is the 3RD in a 4-part Women’s Empowerment series.  Handgun Fundamentals or Empowering Women I AND Women’s Fundamentals Skills & Drills are both a prerequisite for this class.  The student must have successfully completed those two classes prior to taking this course.


Topics to Be covered:

  • Brief review of marksmanship skills in classroom & range
  • Options for car carry
  • Cover various accessories: sights, lasers, grips, mounted lights/flashlights, shooting belts
  • Building a comprehensive range bag
  • Facts about eye & ear protection
  • Gun & Magazine holsters (mini holster clinic)
  • Introduction to holster draw
  • Clearing malfunctions (tactical)
  • Advanced range drills


Required Course Materials
  • Students will be required to provide a personal firearm, with three magazines (pistol) or two speed loaders (revolver).
  • 100 – 150 rounds of ammunition.
  • Magazine pouch or Kydex magazine holster.
  • Hearing and eye protection.
  • Minimum of 5 snap caps/ dummy rounds
  • Note: All targets are provided as course material
  • Wear comfortable clothing, closed-toed shoes & no low-cut shirts.

Josette Chmiel

Raised around firearms since she was young, Josette grew up in a very firearm friendly environment. Both parents were/are hunters & Josette gave hunting a shot while a teenager. Now a vegan, she no longer hunts but continues to be involved in the firearm industry.

For 8 years, she has been actively involved in our 2A rights.  As a volunteer (former) office manager, current board member, Director of Development/ Event Planner & member of the Legislative Action team of Grass Roots NC, she works the front lines defending our 2A rights.

For the past 7 years, she has continued to hone her own firearm skills, while instructing women who are interested in self-empowerment thru self-protection. Josette is very passionate about women learning the necessary means to protect themselves with less lethal forms of self-defense to embracing new shooters to assisting those interested in stepping out into competitions.

Her current teaching certifications include NRA Basic Pistol, NRA Inside & Outside the Home Protection, Chief Range Safety Officer. She is also qualified to teach NC Concealed Carry Class.  Josette is a Smith & Wesson armorer.


By registering for this class, you are acknowledging that you are at least 18 years old and not legally prohibited from operating, possessing, transferring, or owning a firearm in the State of Georgia, as regulated by federal, state, and local laws. False notification or misrepresentation to legally possess firearms in the State of Georgia will result in student’s immediate removal from class and forfeiture of all course fees. By registering for this class, you are also hereby expressly assuming the risk of taking part in the course for instruction in firearms, and taking part in the activities, which include, but are not limited to, instruction in the use of firearms, the discharge of firearms, and the firing of live ammunition.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
All sales are final and no refunds are offered for any cancellations or missed classes. However, if you cancel at least 48 hours before the class, your registration and course fee can be used for the same course within 60 days. Policy subject to change without notice.If a participant neglects to show and inform instructor, they are subject to no rescheduling period. Rescheduling period for customers will be 60 days from your original class date.
