Blaze Sports SE Disabled Veterans & Open Indoor Archery Tournament

Governors Gun Club is partnering with Blaze Sports SE for a tournament honoring Veterans with disabilities. This tournament will consist of 2 sessions, the morning session being only open to veterans with disabilities, and an afternoon session open for any and all who would like to compete.

Format: 3 arrows ends for 20 ends.  60 arrows total.  2:00 min per end. There will be a 15 min brake midway.

This is not a USArchery sanctioned event but USArchery rules will be the guidelines for running the tournament.

Distance:  18 meters, 40cm full or 3 spot target face for adults and 60 cm target face for Cub and below.

Venue: Governor’s Gun Club (Indoor, heated facility, buffet available) 1005 Cobb Place Blvd NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144, Separate warm up range is available for $10

Deadline: Thru Wed Mar 20, 2019, Walk-ins, if space is available.

2 Sessions:

MorningSession (Disabled Veterans Only): Check-in 0730, Warm-up 0800, Scoring starts 0900

Afternoon Session: 1400 (2:00 pm) (Open to any Archer): Check-in 12:30 pm, Warm-up 1:00 pm, Scoring 2:00 pm

Space is limited to 100 archers in the morning session and 100 archers in the afternoon session. Priority is given to Disable Veterans.

Fee: Disable Veterans: $10 per archer (Also, $10 for afternoon if you want to shoot a second time)

Open Participants: $25 per archer which includes a t-shirt

Walk-in Registration (If space is Available): $40 per archer no matter Open or Veteran

Walk-ins: Email on the Friday before the tournament to check if walk-in spots are available.

USArchery membership is not required for this event.


Awards: Disabled Veterans awards will be presented after the 9:00 am session. Open format awards will be presented after the 2:00 pm session. If you are unable to stay for the award presentation, please make arrangements with a teammate or friend to pick up your award.

Cancellations: Registration fees are non-refundable after 10thof March 2019

Disabled Veterans age class format:  (18-40), (40-59), (60-Plus)  Male and Female

Disabled Veterans Divisions: Recurve; W1, Olympic, Barebow/Traditional.   Compound; Compound and compound sighted w/fingers.  Visually Impaired; Will wear eye coverings.

Age Classfor Open format:Yeoman 8-9 yrs; Bowman 10-12 yrs; Cub 13-14 yrs; Cadet 15-17 yrs; Junior 18-20 yrs; Adults 21 yrs+; Masters 50; Masters 60; and Masters 70+.  Athletes compete in their age division up to and through the year of their birthday. For example, if an archer is 14 years old but turns 15 on any day in 2019, the archer will enter as a Cadet, not as a Cub, even though the archer is still 14 on the day of the tournament. JOAD archers may compete “up” an age group, but not “down” an age group.

Divisions: Male & Female: Olympic Recurve, Compound, Compound w/fingers, Barebow/Traditional.

Dress Code: Appropriate Dress is required along with closed toe shoes.

Para Athletes are welcome. Please register early so that we can arrange for appropriate range accommodations. There will not be a separate para division — please register as JOAD or ADULT in appropriate division.

Collegiate Athletes are welcome; however, we will not be holding a separate Collegiate division.

Medical area will be available.

Gun range noise is very minimal at this new facility and should not be an issue for participants that do not like loud noises.

Working dogs are allowed.

Definition of a Disabled Veteran:  Any person who has served in the military and has sustained a disability that is physical.

Food is available through Governor’s Gun Club.  Disabled Veterans will receive 1 meal ticket.  All others can prepay $10 for the buffet.

Each archer is required to bring their own equipment.  None will be provided at the tournament.  Compound Bows can be no more than 60lbs.  Arrows can be no more than 23 in diameter.
